About TMP Marian


100_2.JPGThomas More Prep-Marian is a Catholic, Christian, co-educational, college preparatory high school for grades 9-12 with resident (boarding) and day opportunities.  The school is located in Hays, Kansas halfway between Denver, Colorado and Kansas City, Missouri.  Established in 1908 by the Capuchin Franciscan priests, TMP-Marian is now under the leadership and guidance of the Diocese of Salina and the eight Heartland Catholic parishes of Ellis County.

 

The school has chosen the following for its mission statement:

 

Thomas More Prep-Marian, a Christian community in the Catholic tradition, challenges its students to spiritual growth, academic excellence, and leadership formation.

 

Hays, population 20,000, is the county seat of Ellis County and is the largest city in northwest Kansas.  The community has a strong Catholic population, including three parishes and Holy Family Elementary School.  It is also the regional center for business, education, health care, and technology.  Thirty-three percent of total employment is in the service sector including health care.  Other significant industries are retail trade (20%) and government ( 17%).  Most of the government employment is in the education field, including the local school district and Fort Hays State University.
