Golf Classic Tournament
The 26th annual Alumni Golf Classic tournament held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course. The weather was perfect, except for a little bit of our gusty Kansas wind. The course was full with 36 three-man teams playing in the scramble. The winners of the men's first flight were Russ '80 Ruder, Greg '72 Beyer and Lance Morrow with a score of 60, with second place going to the team of John Holub, Dale '71 Haselhorst and Grant '11 Holub with a score of 64. Winners of the men's second flight were Jerry '67 Staab, Dennis '69 Staab and Doug '74 Staab with a score of 69, with second place going to the team of Ken Haas, Mike '62 Haas and Jim Dinkel with a score of 70. Mixed flight winners were Fr. Earl '61 Befort, Sharon '65 (Befort) Ruder and Brady '12 Rohr with a score of 65, with second place going to the team of Mark Washburn, Dusty '04 Washburn and Emily Washburn with a score of 67. Winners of the women's flight were Jolene Moore, De Roth and Kathleen Kuchar with a score of 91. Congratulations to all of our winners!
A TaylorMade Burner driver with head cover was donated by Dick '76 & Kay Werth of Auto World as a prize for the "longest drive on #14". The winner of this prize was John Holub. Tim '88 & Sandee Werth of VSR Financial Services donated an Odyssey White Ice putter with head cover for the "longest putt on #18" prize, which was won by Marvin Kaiser with a 9'3" putt. For the "closest to the pin on #9" a Ping pitching wedge was donated as a prize by Charlie Staab Jr. The winner of this prize was Charlie Ramsay with a distance of 7'7" from the pin.
Winners of the raffle prizes were: a Ping stand golf bag (donated by Hyle Hugunin) won by Mark '79 Schmeidler, one dozen Titleist Pro V golf balls (donated by a friend of TMP-Marian) won by Dick '76 Werth, a Nike golf shirt (donated by Mark & Kathy Kaseforth) won by Kaycee Dechant, a TMP-Marian jacket (donated by Sunflower Electric Power) won by Doug '74 Staab and a $25.00 Schwan's gift certificate with Avon basket was won by Susan Wolf.
