    Bill DeWitt to be Principal

    The Salina Diocese and the Board of Trustees of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School have announced the appointment of Bill DeWitt as the principal of TMP-Marian.  Mr. DeWitt is replacing Denis Coakley who will leave TMP-Marian June 30.

    Bill is a 1992 graduate of TMP-Marian.  Since leaving the school, Mr. DeWitt attended the University of Kansas and received his B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy along with an M.S. in Educational Administration.  His teaching experience has been in social studies at Eudora High School where he was selected Building Teacher of the Year in 2008-2009.

    Mr. Glenn Braun, President of TMP-Marian Board, stated, “We are excited to have Mr. DeWitt and his family return to the city of Hays.  The search committee has been impressed with Bill’s professionalism and his commitment to TMP-Marian.”

    Commenting on his selection, Mr. DeWitt stated that he is humbled by the selection and looks forward to be returning to Hays in the role of administrator.  Mr. DeWitt is also looking forward to working with the faculty and staff of TMP-Marian in pursuing the quality of excellence in education.

    Bishop Coakley, Salina Diocese, states:  “ I welcome this announcement.  Mr. DeWitt will be a fine addition to the tradition of strong Catholic leadership at TMP-Marian High.  He has a great love for the school as his own alma mater, as well as a strong professional background and a readiness to put down roots in the Hays community.  I am very grateful as well for the contributions which Mr. Denis Coakley has made during his years at TMP-Marian. He has worked very well with Jean Ross to help position TMP-Marian as it enters its second hundred years”.

    Mr. DeWitt will assume his position on July 1.  His wife, Amy, and three daughters will also be welcomed to the Hays Community.
